Wen-Sinn Yang

Cello - violoncelle

Born in Bern from taiwanese parens he studied in Zurich with Claude Starck and in Berlin with Wolfgang Boettcher. Yang received 1988 the Joseph-Joachim-Price for his interpretations of the music from Reimann, Schnittke and Dutilleux.

In 1993 he won the first price at the Concours d'exécution musicale de Genève and the Grand Prix Patek Philippe.

Since 1989 he is the first cellist at the Orchestra of the Bayerischer Rundfunk. As soloist he gives concerts with Lorin Maazel, Sir Colin Davis, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Semyon Bychov and Mariss Jansons.

Now he is theaching at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich. The conduces the Masterclass cello at the International summer academy since over 10 years.
