Kaspar Zehnder

Dirigieren

Kaspar Zehnder comes from the foothills of the Bernese Alps in Switzerland. He has been
principal conductor of the Hradec Králové Philharmonic (CZ) since 2018 after being in the
same position at the Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra (CH) between 2012 and 2022 and
of the PKF Prague Philharmonia from 2005 to 2008.

After school until the Matura in the direction of classical languages, he studied flute and
conducting in Bern, Paris, Siena and at the European Mozart Academy. From 1999-2020 he
was the Artistic Director of the Murten Classics Festival and from 2004 to 2012 Musical
Director at the Zentrum Paul Klee.

As a flautist, he regularly goes on chamber music tours with Magdalena Kožená, Sir Simon
Rattle and other friends.

Kaspar Zehnder conducts leading orchestras throughout Europe. His repertoire
includes countless symphonic and vocal works from the great oratorios of J.S. Bach to the
ensemble music of our time and includes almost the entire symphonic output of the
Classical and Romantic periods, with an emphasis on all that is unknown, new and newly
discovered.
