THE MUSIC THEATRE OF MOZART

The course is specifically for singers and répétiteurs

Participants are instructed in the vital interplay between music and text in Mozart’s theatrical approach, and how to effectively incorporate this into performance.

Based on insights from historical performance practice, all parameters are included:

Tempo considerations
Articulation
Accentuation
Rhetorical structure
Semantic and emotional content
Implied onomatopoeic characterisation in the text

Proper diction - a prerequisite for performance quality – is not the main thrust of this course.
Rather, it is maintaining the intrinsic energy of all elements combined, in order to produce a performance of sparkling vitality.

Rehearsals with orchestra: Participants selected by the professors have the opportunity to rehearse a work with orchestra.

Public concerts: Final concerts of the master classes with piano accompaniment on 18 and 19 July 2024.

Public concerts with orchestra: Students selected by the professors will perform with the orchestra as soloists at the concerts on 20 and 21 July 2024.
